I have created this page in hopes that it will be a place of reflection, in honor of my Dad, William R. Brady. Most people know him as Bill, his grandchildren know him as Poppa...my sister and brothers and I know him as Dad. Of course his buddies in the Navy simply called him Brady.

He came into this world on Friday, August 13, 1926. I guess from that day on his lucky number was 13. So many good things in his life centered around that number. He was raised by his mother, Pauline Miller Brady, he was the light of her life. He married young...almost 22, and my mom, Peggy was only 15. They spent 53 years together. In my eyes, they had the perfect marriage. Of course there were ups and downs like anyone, but they loved each other with the deepest, truest kind of love. Dad was the most patient man I have ever known in my life. Sometimes when mom would be fussing about something, he would just sit there and listen, and smile. He'd let her say what she needed to say, and whether it was directed at him or something else, he just shrugged and let it roll right out the door!

He loved her, and he loved his family more than anything in this world. He was so proud of all of us, and we have always been proud of him. When he decided to go back in the Active Navy, when I was about 13, I wasn't very happy about moving away from the only place I had ever known as home. It took a while, but I came around to adjusting to the Navy Brat life. I guess we all did. We missed our grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, but somehow it all worked out and we survived. Our lives today would have been very different if we hadn't made that journey. My sister and I would have never met our husbands, we never would have made all the life long friends we have...if he hadn't taken us down that road.

My Daddy left this earth, and started on a new journey on Fathers Day...June 17, 2001. I could go on for a very long time talking about my dad, and I may come back and add some things from time to time. But for now I want you to scroll through the pages of this blog and enjoy the pictures. Please feel free to leave us a comment about what you might remember about our Dad.
